The fonds has been arranged into three distinct series: administrative, academic, and materials related to the development of the native studies program at Trent University. There are also brochures, programs and papers from learned societies.

Also included are materials related to the Progressive Conservatives, the New Democratic Party, the 1975 election, and Peterborough voting patterns.

Fonds includes documentation pertaining to the professional and private life of Professor John William Burbidge. Included are his manuscripts of books, articles, and sermons, and student papers. Also included are research materials, offprints of published articles, correspondence with publishers, personal correspondence, lecture notes relating to Professor Burbidge's teaching career at Trent University, and congratulatory letters and cards relating to his retirement from Trent University and election to the Royal Society of Canada.

Fonds consists of correspondence and reports generated by Professor John Wadland in his capacity as Director of the Frost Centre for Canadian Studies and Native Studies at Trent University. Files pertain to the International Program, Association for Canadian Studies, Contact (Canada Studies Foundation newsletter), and fundraising at the university.

This fonds consists of photocopies of the Ernest Thompson Seton papers from the American Museum of Natural History, New York, and the Seton Museum, New Mexico. Also included are photocopies of articles about Seton and research notes for Professor John Wadland's thesis "Ernest Thompson Seton: Man in Nature and the Progressive Era, 1880-1915." Also contained within the fonds are original records and brochures, photographs, and slides.
