Administrative history
The Newcastle District Loan Company of Upper Canada operated in the early 1800's. It's president was George Hall and its' currency was in pounds and shillings. It was one of the nine district banks which was not granted a charter in 1860's.
Custodial history
Margaret E. McGregor found this item in her sister's, Helen McGregor, belongings after Helen's death in 1990. Helen was a teacher in Peterborough for many years. This item was donated through Professor Michael Peterman, President of the Peterborough Historical Society, to the Trent University Archives along with the Peter Robinson report (92-1001).

This item consists of 2 pages of banknotes printed by the Newcastle District Loan Company in August of 1836.
