Biographical history
William Morrison was a gold miner in California. In 1853, he was planning to go to Australia if he could find suitable passage. His brother, James, lived in Dummer Township at that time.
Custodial history
Fonds was in the custody of Joyce C. Lewis before it was donated to Trent University Archives in 2004.

Item is a letter dated 22 October 1853 from William Morrison, Placer County, California, to his brother, James Morrison, of Dummer Township, Ontario. The letter is written in a black paper covered booklet dated 1851 with the title "Gregory's Express Pocket Letter Book."
