The Calendar was prepared for the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace and Assizes which sat 4 times per year: March, June, September and December. The information on each "Calendar of Prisoners" includes: name, place of birth or residence, age, offence, date of committal and any remarks which were entered at the time the prisoners were brought before the General Quarter Sessions of the Peace. Extant reports are incomplete: many sessions within years are missing and some years there are no reports at all.
