Born in Combermere, Ontario, Gary Elwood Nichol was a documentary filmmaker. He lived several years in Toronto and Ottawa before settling in Vietnam where he gave up filmmaking and pursued painting. He was married to Tchu Chin and had three children.Read more

Custodial history

Fonds was created by and in the custody of Gary Elwood Nichol until he gave it to his friend, James Motluk, President/CEO of Guerrilla Films, Inc., in 1998. James Motluk, a Trent alumnus, donated the fonds to Trent University Archives in 2019.
