At head of cover: "To be ignorant of the North-West is to be ignorant of the greater portion of our Country", and below title: "The Universal Verdict - Expectations More than Realized." Covers lightly soiled, stamp at lower end of front cover: "From Depository of Emigration Literature, 33 York St., Toronto, W.R. Callaway, General Manager", address stamp to rear cover, department of Emigration plate to rear cover partially covering address stamp, else very good copy. "During the tour the Vice-Regal partly drove nearly 1,500 miles after leaving the Canada Pacific line at Portage la Prairie; hence no more reliable accounts could be obtained from any traveller than His Excellency was in a position to give, and his statements proclaim trumpet-tongued that the Land of Promise surpasses in richness of soil, grandeur of scenery, and gradations of climatology, any other country upon the American Continent." - Introduction.
