        The Department of Lands and Forests, 1920-1972, was a department of the Government of Ontario based under the Ministry of Natural Resources. Before 1920 it was known as the Department of Lands, Mines and Forests, 1906-1920; The Crown Lands Department, 1827-1905 and the Office of the Surveyor General (Upper Canada), 1792-1827.
