MacGregor, RoyThis collection is comprised of disparate documents collected by Professor David Macmillan. The scope of the papers is primarily North America, 1680 to 1920.
Macmillan, DavidThis item is a day book of T.B. Collins. It has daily entries from June 27, 1884 to August 22, 1885 showing the sales of general merchandise, as well as several entries "to cash". From October 1885 to November 1903, entries are in the form of accounts, are not daily, and deal mostly with cash exchanges. Also included are entries relating to mortgages; details of expense accounts for building barns, houses and other buildings and items. In the back of the book, entries are headed "Pump Business:, December 1884-October 1885.
Collins, Thomas B.This collection consists of two marriage certificates. One is a handwritten certificate documenting the marriage of Charles Luduc and Sarah Walton, officiated by Pastor Michael [Tunlin], and dated 21 January 1868 at Cobourg. The other is a standard printed certificate, dated 28 February 1880 in Peterborough, and documenting the marriage of William Storms and Emma Preston. There is one family name in common on the two documents: Preston.
Preston familyThis addition to the fonds includes World War I correspondence, including approximately eight letters written by Helen, Donald and Eric Fowlds from France and the Dardanelles during World War 1. There are excellent descriptions of preparations for Christmas dinner at the military hospital where Helen was stationed and also letters home from Helen after Donald was killed in action.
The papers also contain typescripts of letters written by early members of the Fowlds family from Asphodel Township in 1841. There is a miscellaneous packet of photograph negatives and assorted clippings. Also included are "water level" notebooks (Hastings).
Marryat, HelenThe fonds consists mostly of Helen Marryat's (nee Helen Fowlds) personal experiences as a nurse in World War I, and her activities as a local historian. There are clippings of her articles in local newspapers, historical maps (drawn by Gerald Marryat) and other materials relating to settlement of Hastings and district such as education and nursing. Also included are the correspondence and photograph collections of her brothers, Donald and Eric (mostly from World War I), and material on Frederick Marryat (1792-1848), navy captain and novelist. In December 2001, Trent University Archives launched an online exhibit which depicts Helen Fowld's experiences in World War I. Kidd, James RobbinsThis item is a mathematics work book which belonged to Mary Jane Moncrief in 1861. In it there are samples of decimal currency, reductions of weights and measures, compound addition and subtraction, percentages and many other mathematical exercises.
Moncrief, Mary JaneThis 73-page typewritten manuscript is an anecdotal record of the information McBain amassed about the properties in northeast Cavan Township. It includes a record of the hamlet of Springville west of the Cavan-Monaghan boundary and of Fairmount (formerly Morrow), a crossroads on the 12th Line, and references to Ida and Mount Pleasant on the middle road. There are in-depth references to properties and families on the 11th, 12th, 13th and 14th lines east of the middle road to the Monaghan boundary.
McBain, Norman R.This fonds consists of microfiche copies of manuscript diaries written by King covering his university education, entry into the civil service, achievements as Minister of Labour and his election in 1919 as Leader of the Liberal Party, the Liberal victory of 1921 and the King-Byng controversy. The manuscripts are contained in consecutively numbered fiches. Typewritten transcripts of the diaries are included in a second series of microfiches. Also included are various private typewritten diaries relating to international relations and industrial relations. An index accompanies the microfiches. The records in this fonds range from 1893 to 1931.

Cramahe and Haldimand Female Tract SocietyThe item is a microfilm copy of a scrapbook compiled by D.S. Cruther's grandmother containing obituaries and pictures of all kinds of events, from such journals as the Illustrated London News, Harper's Weekly, etc. The scrapbook is a good study of the social, architectural, art and other interests of a Mid-Victorian Canadian woman.
