Fonds consists of 3 letters written to Wilfrid M. Hueston, Maria and Willie [Hueston], and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hueston, of Thorndale, Ontario in 1918 and 1919. The letters refer to the influenza pandemic of 1917, and World War I.

This item is a journal of events kept by the Post Manager at Eastmain, Outfit 260, James Bay District of the Hudson's Bay Company. His instructions were to record weather conditions, temperatures, activities of Inuit and Native fur trade, animal and bird migration patterns, supply ship and passenger activity, mail arrivals and news of Revillon Freres at an adjoining post. Discussed in the letter are the militia, the roads and other internal improvements, the land granting system, the state of education; the (projected) union of the two provinces and responsible government. Several uncritical pages are missing.

Materials relate, for the most part, to the Bell and Canniff families of Thurlow Township, Hastings County. Other items of note include a document certifying parents' satisfaction with teacher Robert Laing, Big Island, 1817; a document relating to the building of a bridge across a creek in Thurlow Township, 1832; a notice regarding a meeting to elect officers for the formation of an agricultural society in Hastings County [Midland District Agricultural Society], 1830; and a declaration regarding Stephen Ferguson Bell who saw "a greate shooting of the stars... a continual shooting from the center of the Heavens in every direction," 1833.

This item is a Public School Daily Register folder dated 1895 for Public School #3 from Camborne in Hamilton Township. It includes an attendance record for January, 1897, along with a report of number of male and female students in December, 1896. The register folder spells out in some detail the subject requirements for the various grades.

This item is a broadside advertising stud services of the Hambletonian Stallion "Boxer" from Springville. On the front part of the page is a description of the stallion and the dates of what towns he will be going to and when. On the back of the page is a tabulated pedigree chart.

This item is a broadside containing information about the By-Laws of the Municipality of Haldimand for the information of pound keepers: "Extracts from the statutes of Canada and the by-Laws of the Municipality of Halidmand..."

The grasses scrapbook was compiled by Catharine Parr Traill for her friend James Fletcher and given to him 12 January 1894. The inside cover has the following inscriptions: "Grasses from Stony Lake gathered and mounted by Cathe Parr Traill - Aged 92 years." These specimens are from the Island of Minne Wa-Wa and Otter Island. July-September 1893" and "With Mrs.Traill's kind wishes to her much valued and esteemed friend James Fletcher F.S.L.S. & etc. January 12th, 1894". The scrapbook consists of 20 pages, 18 of which have pressed grasses, from the Stoney Lake area of the Island of Minne Wa-Wa and Otter Island, glued onto them. Also included in the scrapbook is a specimen list of the grasses and a photocopy of an article, entitled "Grasses from Stony Lake Gathered and Mounted by Cathe Parr Traill - Aged 92 Years". The article was written by William G. Dore and published in The Ontario Naturalist in 1966.

The framed mosses were gathered by Catharine Parr Traill in the Stoney Lake area. Prior to the Archives receiving this addition, the pages were taken apart, mounted and framed in two frames each containing three pages of mosses; one medium frame containing "Sedges & grass, with mosses, from the bank below the garden at Westove. Gathered and arranged for Katie. With Grandmother's dear love. Oct. 24th, 1889"; and one small frame with Traill's autograph.

In the article, Helme describes her adventures travelling from Bonn, Germany back to England, and includes her contacts with British, American, and German officialdom. The article was published in the Lancashire Guardian, 22 August 1914.

This item is a notebook which belonged to F.W. Hilshaw, Churchfield House, Halton, near Runcorn in Cheshire. It contains schoolwork, newspaper clippings, accounts and recipes.

This fonds consists of correspondence, a petition, and an election poster. One item, the letter of 1827, relates to another Haultain, perhaps Major-General F.M. Haultain. The remainder relates particularly to F.W. Haultain's military and political careers.

A reproduction (34 cm x 121 cm) of an original two-piece mural painted in 1941 by artist Frederick Hagan (1918-2003). The mural depicts various camp activities; reproductions were made in recognition of the camp's 100th anniversary celebrated in 2010.

This item is an account book dated 1902-1903 of a furniture factory owned by Frank Sanford of Fenelon Falls. At the end of the book, several pages are filled with grain accounts. Throughout, many pages are covered with pasted-in pictures from magazines, and a child's drawings. There are also three pages of notes relating to British colonies.
