This item is an account book which is bound in pigskin. Some of the accounts are related to the sale of clocks. Also included are notes with the following headings "To lay gild on glass", "To gild wood or stone", "To gild any metal", "To writ with silver letters", "To soften metal", "Numbers of an 8 day clocke", "To make yellow varnish", etc. It is possible that the owner of this account book was a clock-maker.

Item is an original handwritten manuscript of the proceedings of the British Parliament during the reign of James I, dated February 1620 to December 1621. The manuscript is written on rag paper and is 117 pages in length. It is bound in half-calf, and the spine has the inscription: "Phillips MSS 3093." The binder's ticket on the inside cover has the inscription: "Bretherton ligavit 1848."

This item is a photocopy of a letter from A.G. Fleming, of Kirkcaldy, Scotland, to his sons, David and Sandford, in Canada. Topics discussed include difficulties in booking passage to Canada, activities of David, and those of (later Sir) Sandford in railways. Also mentioned is Dr. Hutchison, Peterborough's first doctor, as well as incidences of grave illness and quarantining of newly-landed emigrants. The letter is dated July 16, 1847.

Collection consists of three personal notes written by Catharine Parr Traill to her grand-niece, Agnes Le Fenore. One is a two part card with the cover illustrated with cutout images of a dog and a butterfly along with a wisp of moss glued to the surface. The second part of the card is a warm salutation to Agnes and her family. The date is 24 December 1897. The second item, dated 12 May, is a note of thanks to Agnes for obtaining a cape [and cap?] for her, and also refers to fatigue and the problem of swelling feet. The third item is a letter written 1 April 1899 to "G Niece A F" [Agnes] sending belated sympathy for two in hospital and describing in some detail Traill's own plight, and the care offered by Kate and Katie.

This addition to the fonds consists of photocopies of the original report and field notes of the re-survey of the Bobcaygeon Road, between the Townships of Ridout and Sherborne, in the District of Muskoka and the County of Haliburton. The notes are in diagram form with notations regarding soil and timber. The report and field notes were written by land surveyor E.L. Burgess.

Rogers' (superintending engineer) covering report on the proposed Trent Canal from Port Hope to Rice Lake, 8 pages, January 31, 1900. 2) The supporting, or investigated, document submitted by Robt. A. Maingy (mining and civil engineer) to Lt. Gov. Sir John Colborne on the same topic on March 6, 1833, 8 pages. Roger's report was submitted to Collingwood Scheiber, Chief Engineer of the Department of Railways and Canals.

This item is an account book which appears to have been that of a Peterborough area shoe retailer, C.E. Smith Boots and Shoes. Loosely inserted in the book is a letter dated 1913 from Hastings written by J.F. McCarthy to C.E. Smith, esq., regarding an order for a pair of shoes. Several of the accounts itemized in the book are with shoe companies. Glued in the book is a "Bank of Montreal, Peterborough" bank slip.
