Fonds consists of correspondence, journals, religious materials, and newspaper clippings related to the family of Thomas Alexander Stewart and Frances Stewart. Many papers originate from the family of their son, Henry Louis Stewart. Also included are a book about the Stewart family, Poole's history of Peterborough, a photograph of people at camp at "Indian Hill near Coldwater Ontario," a sketch of Auburn (the family homestead), and a map depicting townships with lots and concessions in the counties of Northumberland, Durham, Victoria, and Peterborough.
Stewart familyFile includes newspaper clippings that relate to the death of Rev. J.C.S. Mathias (1930); the death of Robert Chambers (1888); the visits of Mrs. A.E. Kelly, the daughter of Henry Louis Stewart, to Port Hope (1944); and the visit of George Stewart to Peterborough (1895).
Ledger also includes an account of a trip from Ireland to Lisbon, Portugal via the "East India fleet" in 1812. Also included is a page dated 1826 of financial accounts relating to the "Peterborough School House".
File includes many items that seem to have originated in Ireland. Some are addressed to Frances Stewart from Maria Noble, while others appear to be in Frances Stewart's handwriting. File includes the following, along with other religious writings not listed:

- Copies of letters dated 1826 which Harriet Beaufort wrote to Frances Stewart (these are in a booklet format and the pages are numbered 104-119)
- Thomas Sutton to Thomas Alexander Stewart re Frances's marriage settlement (1829)
- Form letter from W.A. Scott, Captain Commanding announcing a full-dress parade of the 1st Volunteer Militia Rifle Company (October 1859)
- A note from Charles Stewart (son of Frances and Tom Stewart) regarding the election for school trustee for Douro Township (1862)
- A partial letter by Frances Stewart with pages missing (ca. 1866 or 1869)
- A short note from Frances Stewart to her son Henry regarding some missing books that she found for him (1869)
- A short note from Cecil Brown to his cousin Dunbar Stewart (grandchildren of Frances and Tom Stewart) regarding school matters (1874)

File consists of a photograph of a group of individuals, including P. Gaudear, Joe, [Aubrise?], Barrow, Cameron, Dick, [Hallire?], Heath, Old Gaudear, G.A. Stewart, [Jarle?] Gaudear, H.L. Stewart, and Cooke.
A magazine clipping of “The Wonders of Scotland” with a coloured photograph of Tantallon Castle is included in the back of the book.
